On 9th October 2015 we hosted a Refugees Welcome event at Milo bar, Leeds. We had an engaging & progressive night as we heard from Yorkshire Aid, Leeds City of Sanctuary, Stand up to Racism & The Real Junk Food Project who faced a similar backlash to ourselves when they did something similar in Armley. We were fully aware that this is a divisive issue, hence why we put it on: we want to dispel the myths that surround the refugee crisis & have an open debate about the issue. We spoke to people on the other side of the argument through our Facebook page, we had some interesting conversations although many of them were unwilling to have a sensible & fact based discussion. 3 great bands played on the night to continue the long tradition of music & protest going hand in hand
